East Alabama Regional Detention
A maximum-security detention facility located on Main Campus-LCYDC
with a capacity to serve 32 juveniles. The average age is 14 and
the average length of stay is four weeks. Referrals accepted from
DYS and Juvenile Court in 12 counties. Provides locked security,
support, and limited psychological assessments for juvenile offenders
awaiting final adjudication and placement.
S.T.A.R.S. Facility:
S.T.A.R.S.:(Structure, Treatment, Awareness, Redirection, and Support)
is an acronym for the facility housing several programs meeting the needs
of at-risk females.
Voyages I:
Voyages I is located in the S.T.A.R.S. Facility and is a 42 to 90-day program that provides behavior modification services
to at risk adolescent girls 12 to 18 committed to the Department of Youth
Services in a highly structured and supervised residential setting located
on the LCYDC Main Campus. Residents must complete tasks on six separate
levels before graduating from the program.
Voyages II:
Voyages II is located within the S.T.A.R.S. Facility and is a 90-day program that provides treatment-based services to
girls referred by Department of Youth Services. Voyages II is both client and family
focused with much attention paid to intrinsic change and growth as well as
improved behavior responses. Bed space is available for up to 8 female residents.
B.E.A.M.S.
BEAMS: (Behavior, Education, Attitude, Motivation, and Success) program
is a 90-day program located in the S.T.A.R.S. Facility and is designed to help residents develop skills to manage
their behavior once they return home and to learn effective coping skills
in safe, appropriate, socially acceptable ways. The program’s fundamental
structure forms around a “strength oriented, community-based, family
inclusive, and child centered” philosophy. Referrals are accepted through
the Alabama Department of Youth Services. Bed space is available for up
to 8 female residents.
Maintenance/Security:
The facilities, grounds, equipment and auto fleet owned by the agency require
continual attention, repair and maintenance. The agency’s Maintenance
Department strives to assist department heads and direct-care staff in
establishing and maintaining environments that are inviting and safe for
children, families and employees.
The agency’s Security Department works to ensure year-round safety on
the agency’s main campus during late night and early morning hours.
