Continuum of Family Care (COFC)
The Lee County COFC program is a pilot program which started in November, 2006, in partnership with the State and Lee County Departments of Human Resources. COFC brings together a continuum or array of service disciplines with a goal of serving at-risk children and their families in the least disruptive, most seamless manner possible.
The COFC program employs a staff of in-home service professionals who focus on meeting the immediate or chronic, ongoing needs of families in crisis in an effort to prevent the placement of children outside of the home. In cases where residential care is advisable, COFC coordinates both placement and reunification efforts.
COFC currently serves up to 10 families referred to the program by Lee County DHR. Utilizing a multi-systemic, family-driven approach, service providers are prepared to coach, model support and intervene in an effort to strengthen family dynamics and assist with keeping children safe and productive. Central Cafeteria
Centrally located at the heart of main campus, the agency’s Central Cafeteria operations meets standards set forth by the State Department of Public Health, as well as the Federal Child Nutrition program administered through the State of Alabama Department of Education. The cafeteria prepares more than three hundred meals each day year-round. After school and evening snacks as well as special dietary menus for youth with identified health issues are also provided.
The cafeteria staff take pride in their efforts to prepare meals which appeal to a wide-range of discerning adolescent palates. They gladly accept suggestions from the residents and incorporate changes when feasible. For additional information call (334)321-0238.
Relief Staff Services
Providing qualified staff to physically supervise and support children in residential care 24-7-365 is a continually daunting task. In order to provide basic coverage during regular staff absences or position vacancies and additional coverage during client crisis, the agency utilizes a Relief Specialist system. Relief Specialists receive the same screening and training as the regular Residential Specialists and are expected to work on an as-needed basis.
The Relief Specialists are vital to Transitional and Correctional Service operations and provide an important link to consistent quality client care. The agency strives to maintain a list of reliable and dependable Relief Specialists. For further information call (334)321-0209. |
